Golf Classic

On August 29, 2011 we hosted our 15th Annual RMHC Golf Classic at Catta Verdera Country Club. Once again this was a sold out event and our golfers had a great time out on the course. Thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, auction donors, and volunteers, this event was a huge success, raising a significant amount of funds to help lift our children and families to a better tomorrow. To check out our sponsors and view pictures of the fun we had, head to our website. Stay tuned for details about next year's golf outing. We hope to see you out on the course!

Camp Ronald McDonald® at Eagle Lake

Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California successfully hosted its 19th summer camp program at Eagle Lake. Campers spent a week under the sun enjoying various activities from arts and crafts, drama, sports, outdoor education, waterfront activities, and nutrition education. The campers also took pleasure in campfires, carnivals, talent shows, dances, Special Olympics, and enchanted night hikes. Camp Ronald McDonald, a beautiful layout and environment, is home to nine cabins, two shower houses, a dining hall, amphitheater, campfire pit, beach volleyball court, sand pit, dock and water front, basketball court, and plenty of grassy playing fields.

Our summer schedule included various programs, from: Camp ReCreation, Family Counseling Services, Camp Eagle Lake, Camp Signshine, Hanot Foundation, and Lassen County Kids Week.
  • Family Counseling Services celebrated its 12th summer at Camp Ronald McDonald this year, providing services to children who have been sexually abused. These campers participated in all the exciting activities of camp and were able to participate in group therapy that will lend the campers tools for the future.
  • Camp ReCreation celebrated its 10th summer at Camp Ronald McDonald this year, a summer program with two different sessions filled with a Love, Peace, and Camp theme. Camp ReCreation provides campers with developmental disabilities the opportunity for fun, social interaction, skill development, and spiritual growth.
  • For our 18th summer we held Lassen County Kids summer camp. Lassen County Kids is our local camp and serves children from the local community of Lassen County. This year we hosted a staggering 83 campers and 28 volunteer cabin counselors! Most of our counselors, who are such a big part of making our summer GREAT, came from Susanville and the Sacramento area.
  • Camp Eagle Lake holds two different sessions throughout the summer and hosted 111 campers this summer in those two weeks. Our second session ventured into a new partnership with 4-H Adventure Camps serving children with special needs of military families. The Camp Eagle Lake program provides campers who are at risk, disadvantaged, and/or living with physical, developmental, and emotional disabilities with a program that promotes individuality.
  • Camp Signshine offers a unique opportunity for those hearing impaired children, as well as their siblings and children of deaf parents, to interact with their peers in a fun, traditional, camp setting.
  • Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake also hosts the Hanot Foundation which serves developmentally disabled adults and provides them with a warm, supportive, and loving environment that is the least restrictive for an adult individual.
And finally, a big shout-out and THANK YOU to all of our wonderful camp counselors! Our fantastic and creative camp counselors came from all over the world, including places such as Russia, Canada, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Illinois, Minnesota, Kentucky, Texas, and California!

Ronald McDonald House Charities In The Community

  • COLLICUTT ENERGY: Collicutt Energy hosted a golf tournament on October 5th at Teal Bend Golf Course to benefit RMHCNC. There was beautiful weather and fun to have and enjoy by all! Thank you Collicutt Energy for your support of raising $30,000 for our Charity!
  • BUILDERS FORE KIDS: Builders for Kids hosted their 5th bi-annual golf tournament this past May, benefiting RMHCNC and two other charities. They raised a total of $78,000 this year! It is charity events like these that help our House provide 'a home away from home' to families that may need some extra support. Thank you, Builders Fore Kids!
  • IADT FASHION: The International Academy of Design and Technology hosted an evening of fashion and photography to benefit The Sacramento Ronald McDonald House. This was the third time IADT hosted this event with the House as the benefiting charity and we thank IADT immensely for all of their support!
  • DEMAS AND ROSENTHAL, LLP: Want to donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California with the click of a button? Just by clicking 'Like' on their page will help us to continue to provide a 'home away from home' for 1,000 families per year! Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House

Volunteers come together to help out at the Ronald McDonald House by offering their special skills such as painting or electrical, donating items such as plants or bark, and giving their time to answer phones or pull weeds. Each person provides a crucial piece to the puzzle that completes the Ronald McDonald House. Volunteers are essential in the success of the Ronald McDonald House and we would not be able to provide housing to 1,000 families per year without their time and effort.

CREW COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY: CREW joined our Outdoor Work Party on September 10th this year and contributed over $9,000 of in-service and in-kind donations! We would like to recognize the following companies for their assistance in helping to maintain a safe and beautiful facility for our families.

Thank you to the following groups that made up the CREW team: The Growing Company, JF Regalado Concrete, Madsen Roofing, Progressive Painting, Redi-Gro, Cascade Bark, Interior Plant Company and Choate Nursery.

NEW CARPET INSTALLATION: This summer, volunteers helped with the installation of new carpet in 16 of our bedrooms here at the Ronald McDonald House. The volunteers helped remove all the furniture and old carpeting to allow for the installation of the new carpet, and then moved all the furniture back in and put brand new sheets on all the beds. With the donation of carpet from CDI Commercial Flooring plus a reduced installation price and volunteer labor, our families are now able to stay in rooms with fresh, new carpeting.

VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION: The following groups have volunteered their time at the House in the last two months:
  • Beale AFB
  • Zencar
  • Gramma's Hugs
  • Stampin Up!
  • The Uninvited
  • State Street Bank
  • S&J Window Services
  • YMCA
  • VSP
  • Kleinfelder
  • Options for Youth
  • National Holistic Institute & Teaching Clinic, Inc.
