Ronald McDonald House
Holiday Party & Toy Run

We celebrated yet another fantastic holiday event for our families on December 5th. The party kicked off with Santa leading his elves on a toy run and all arriving on Harleys! The hot dogs were grilled to perfection by The California National Guard, and just to make sure that no one's belly went empty, the Carmichael Emblem Club served the desserts! There were plenty of games and crafts to entertain the crowd as well as special appearances from our favorite clowns and mime. The 'Magic of Dale Lorzo' and 'Holiday Time with Joey Mime' were the highlight of the day, as laughter could be heard from all areas of the grounds because of their performances.

This day is especially important because it gives the children and families we serve a time to break away from the hospital environment they have been forced to deal with. There is nothing like yummy food and games to take your mind off of things for a while. We are thankful to have an opportunity to witness the many smiles on their faces on this special day! Don't forget to take a look at all the fun we had in our online photo gallery.

Many thanks go out to all of our fabulous volunteers that made this event possible. It is because of your assistance we are able to make this Holiday Party a success!

Kids Still Need Your Help

Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake is one of the only totally handicap-accessible camping facilities in Northern California. Every summer we collaborate with other non-profit groups to bring a week of traditional camp experiences to children with a variety of special needs. Qualified specialists take the time to create programs that accommodate each camper regardless of mobility, cognitive or emotional issues. The program activities help to further Camp Ronald McDonald's mission and allow children with all types of disabilities to experience the wonders of summer camp.

Because of budget cuts statewide, many of the organizations that partner with Camp Ronald McDonald are struggling to maintain funding. Without additional support, many kids may be unable to experience a true summer camp next year.

A week at Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake is often the only time during the year that these at-risk children are not hindered by their circumstances. The confidence and self-esteem built during one week of Camp helps shape their daily lives throughout the year. At Camp their options are limitless and the joy they experience is priceless. Visit to learn about the Send a Kid to Camp program and how you can help these amazing children.

The Ronald McDonald House Teen Council

The RMHCNC held its first meeting on November 14th. This is a group of teens in our community that have dedicated time to supporting the many activities that take place at the House. Meetings take place the second Saturday of each month at noon. If you have interest in participating in the Teen Council, please contact Lois Polaschek at 916.734.4226 or

Holiday Heroes

A very special thank you to the CHP, United Way and Sacramento Vintage Ford for putting toys in our kids hands!

Volunteers in Action

The November Outdoor Work Party crew of 60 people once again helped keep the grounds of the House looking meticulous! The volunteers were busy pulling weeds, filling the playground area with wheelchair-accessible bark, deadheading flowers among many other things. Another fantastic job and thanks to all that came out to help!

Associated Builders and Contractors were out again this month! This dedicated crew painted the hallways in Buildings 300, 400 and the Lobby. Thanks go out to them for helping to maintain the beauty of our "home away from home" for our guests.

Energy Value Group has graciously donated their consulting services and is working with us on working in a more "green" atmosphere. With the guidance of James Wong, we hope to make the necessary changes and monitor our green footprint.

Southwest Airlines provided and served a fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner once again for our families. The menu of ham, turkey and all the appropriate fixings were served by smiling volunteers making the day special for our guests.

Holiday Decorating began on November 21st with help of our volunteers. We had eight Christmas trees spread and decorated around the house as well as a special set-up of Santa's Village in the lobby. It was definitely Merry around here!

As always, we'd like to send a very special thank you to the many organizations and individuals who have helped us out and participated in the Odd Job Work Parties. These supporters fix, clean or set-up the random tasks we need done here at the House. We appreciate you all for cleaning the kitchens and playrooms and for setting up the Gift Shop and Holiday Party for our families.

Thank you to the following organizations:
  • Zencar
  • Archoustics West
  • Foothill-Highlands Rotary Club
