In Case You Missed Sawyer Day

107.9 The End changes name to honor 9-year-old boy battling lymphoma cancer

On Thursday, February 18, 2016, local radio station 107.9 The End changed their name to Sawyer 107.9. Many of you may have heard the change and wondered why.

9-year-old Lincoln native, Sawyer, was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma last April.  Sawyer is a big fan of the radio station’s early morning show called “The Wake-Up Call” hosted by Jason, Katie, and Gavin.

“One of the things on his bucket list was to come hang out with us,” said host Katie. “If we could make him smile just for a little bit, it feels so so good.”

Being too sick to be able to visit the show, the station decided to dedicate the entire day to him.

The day was filled with shout-outs from listeners and some of Sawyer’s favorite artists like Flo Rida. All of the music played were some of his favorite songs.
