13th Annual RMHC Golf Classic

On August 31, 2009 we hosted our 13th Annual RMHC Golf Classic at its new location, Catta Verdera Country Club. Once again this was a sold out event and our golfers had a great time out on the course. Thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, auction donors, and volunteers this event was a huge success, raising over $60,000 to help lift our children and families to a better tomorrow. To check out our sponsors and view pictures of the fun we had, head to our website. Stay tuned for details about next year's golf outing. We hope to see you out on the course!

Teen Volunteers Wanted

Are you looking for a way to make a difference? Do you want to gain leadership skills? Join us in forming a youth group that supports the Sacramento Ronald McDonald House. What this group looks like and the commitment level required will be determined by the teens involved. The first meeting for this group will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 1:00pm. Contact Lois at 916.734.4226 for more information and to reserve your spot.

Volunteers in Action

Video Products Distributors volunteers have joined the growing crowd of businesses participating in our Odd Job Work Parties. They have done a wide variety of chores and are helping to make the House shine.

Stampin'Up and The Sheraton Grand came together to create journals that share the experiences of the many families who stay at the House. In every bedroom, there is a journal for family members to write in and share their experiences. From these precious words, we make a journal for our volunteers and donors. There is no better way to express the mission of the Charity than to hear from the people whose lives are made better thanks to your support.

Benjamin Moore donated paint for the exterior and interior of the some of the buildings on site. Associated Builders and Contractors have begun painting the bedrooms and on October 10th, local companies will begin painting the exterior. Many painters have come together to help give our site a facelift including Job Corp volunteers who came out and painted four of our administrative offices.

Cristo Rey Interns: The House now has two volunteers from Cristo Rey High School. Luis Carmona and Katie Jolley each volunteer one full day a week and a second day once a month assisting in the day-to-day running of the House. Luis has been a great asset with our families from Mexico as he speaks Spanish and Katie brings an exuberance that is hard to beat.

Volunteers from AutoTrader.com are now coming out to the House each month and really making a huge difference. They have made repairs, cleaned kitchens, delivered items off site, and helped out with many other odd jobs. They are setting high volunteer expectations as they do everything with excellence and a smile.
